Black Label (40 percent ABV, 80 proof) is a great introduction to the taste of Scotch because it offers a nice balance of sweet and peat. It is an elegant (almost scrumptious) Scotch at a great price and a reliable whisky that can easily become a regular in any bar. White Horse blended whisky has tradition: it was first produced in 1861. White Horse also got the 'Blended Whisky of the Year' in 2007 Whisky Bible by Jim Murray. White Horse is owned by Diageo and apparently Lagavulin is the key factor in it. Okay for a blend, a malty one. But still, robustly blended so not as good as I expected.

Nevertheless, don't expect miracles as well because it is what it is, a Blended Whisky with around 70% of neutral Grain Whisky. Black and White Blended Scotch holds a special place for me, it was the one dram that my Grandad drank and the one that was most frequently in my Dads glass also, meaning this was very likely the first dram i had having dipped a finger into my Dads glass sometime in the late 70s to early 80s.
